How many sizes can a garment be altered to?
Depending on style a garment can be altered around two sizes smaller. Some garments can be made bigger depending on amount of seam allowance there is to let out. It may also be possible to add sections of fabric to make parts of a garment bigger.
Can a zip up gown be made bigger?
Yes, a zip can usually be removed and replaced with a lace up back. A panel can be added under lace for modesty.
How many fittings are need for alterations?
Around 2 fittings are needed for most garments, one initial fitting to establish requirements and a refit after work is done. Bridal gowns may need up to 4 fittings depending on how much work is required.
Can I get a quote for alterations?
I can provide a general quote for alterations needed. If you can send me a picture of your garment and a list of alterations you think you’ll need, Ill provide a general quote. It is of course difficult to quote without seeing your garment on you, but I can usually provide you with an idea of cost.
What do I need to bring to my Bridal gown fitting?
You will need to bring your Bridal gown, bridal shoes, bridal underwear, your veil and anything else you think you may need.
Can you steam my dress?
I can steam/press your dress. I will arrange a collection date at your final dress fitting. Once your dress is steamed it will need to hang until wedding date. If your dress has a full skirt with a train, it’s a good idea to bring a clean double duvet cover when you collect. Once your dress is steamed it cannot go back into your dress bag as it may crease. It will fit into the duvet cover and can be transported to home or venue. Slim dresses can be put into your own dress bag. I will discuss this with you at your dress fitting. I do provide contact information for a Bridal dry-cleaning service.
When do I need to pay?
Payment can be made when all work is complete. I will discuss payment methods.
What if I gain or lose weight after my alterations are done?
If after alterations are complete and you change weight/shape, extra alterations may incur extra charges. I will discuss timescales and weight change with you at your initial appointment.
How soon should I book in for Bridal alterations?
I usually suggest booking in for your initial appointment around 2 months before wedding date. If you are sure, you will not change weight/shape you can book in for your initial appointment as soon as you like.
